Mentoring Program

Respite Service - Track House Life Youth mentoring programs exist to provide these role models and help a child develop socially and emotionally. Our Mentors help youth learn how to understand and communicate their feelings, to relate to their peer and to develop relationships with other adults.

Youth mentoring works best when goals focus on developing trusting relationships with peers and adults. Programs will include focusing on behavioral goals, such as achieving better grades or resisting negative involvement in the community. Our Mentoring program will try to help a young person develop socially, because social skills benefit the child in other areas of his or her life.

Parental involvement is also beneficial. Our program encourages parental involvement in a way that does not threaten the youth-parent relationship.
Track House Life Mentors match with the youth based on shared interests of the youth and mentor, and family preference. Mentoring sessions should involve structured activities: sports, basketball and other outdoor or indoor activities. Social and academic activities, such as going to lunch, attending sporting events, or visiting museums will be part of activities planned between the Mentor and youth. The most suitable mentors see their goal as supporting the child and helping him foster positive relationships in their life.

THL will provide training and supervision for the consumer to increase and maintain his or her self-help, socialization and adaptive skills. THL will provide opportunities for consumers to interact socially within their community as well as assistance with development of social skills with peers and adults. THL will develop opportunities for the consumer to achieve and maintain quality of life and a vision for the future.
